    1. First let me start by saying that I did enjoy reading this book great characters, interesting plot and a bit of twist However it is one of those books where I loved part of it but didn t enjoy other parts of the story quite so much. The book tells the story of Jason who is desperate to escape from someone who is out to kill him He is tired of running and approaches Quinn, a PI, for help Quinn has personal reasons for wanting to protect Jason from the bad guy, reasons involving the death of his lo [...]

    2. A mystery story that turns into a paranormal tale about halfway through It s told in alternating 1st person POV The two voices were not distinguishable and alternated too quickly for my taste I didn t really feel the two guys falling in love I preferred the first half It got zanier and cliched as it progressed The monsters didn t feel grounded in known mythology and their names were fairly wacky.

    3. I must admit that I have been a fan of Ethan Stone s for a long time I have followed his career closely since the beginning There is so much growth and maturity as a writer evident in his most recent effort, Past Tense One thing has remained the same though Ethan writes gay fiction like a gay man A lot of gay fiction today is written by women gasp in shock here Ethan s characters rarely show a weak side His men aren t often romantic They occasionally make love , but often, they fuck He is hones [...]

    4. Reviewed onHearts on Fire3.5 StarsI needed some time to reflect on this one as I had to adjust to the story arc changes that occur mid story Right off the bat I m hit with the kind of writing style that I sometimes find jarring the alternating point of view between the two main characters There s a definite advantage to getting both sides of the story so to speak, but I prefer longer transitions between each voice But once I adjusted to the rhythm of the story it became less bothersome The story [...]

    5. Please leave comments about Kiwi s 4 sweet pea review at mrsconditreadsbooks index Oh my This was a very strange book It starts off one way and you think it s a just a story about a man running from thugs who want him dead There is that, but it s You re reading expecting one thing and it turns out to be something else The paranormal element takes you completely by surprise It wasn t mentioned in the blurb you never would have guessed it I liked that A demon hunting family, I didn t see that one [...]

    6. 4 HeartsReview written for MM Good Book ReviewsJason has been on the run for years, ever since he lost everything that ever meant anything to him Having settled in Las Vegas for the last couple of months he is surprised to learn that the very man Damos who wants him dead is in Vegas under another name, but Jason is sick of running and decides that his running days are over Quinn is a private detective who lost his lover the year before, now he hides from life taking pleasure in being a thorn in [...]

    7. This had a bit of a feel of two separate story lines, one intense crime thriller and the other paranormal The beginning seems crime thriller but it does hint that there will be a paranormal aspect to it The crime thriller is a very interesting plot In some ways I think it would have stood very well on its own with no paranormal aspect to it To see how Jason confronts his former friend would have made a very interesting ending The paranormal changed up the story a lot It made it about fighting [...]

    8. I really enjoyed this book, it wasn t a sweet or especially romantic story in the typical way but the feeling was still there and I found myself hooked on the very first page I could do without supernatural bits but I didn t mind them in the end I appreciated it wasn t love at the first sight kind of a story, though there was some attraction from the beginning for sure Despite painful past of both characters view spoiler Quinn losing his lover and Jay his family hide spoiler they were strong wil [...]

    9. When I bought this, I didn t look closely at the categories it was assigned to So, the sudden appearance of fantastical creatures, and paranormal activities, totally threw me off I wasn t expecting and it felt really just thrown in all of a sudden I actually set this aside and forgot about it until I came back to and saw it still sitting there and then finished it I really think the paranormal aspect should have been introduced a bit earlier, even if it was just a touch Because having it come to [...]

    10. I enjoyed this story It starts off as a PI protecting his client from an old enemy who wants him dead I enjoyed the action sequences, Jason seemed quite resourceful, even without Quinn.Once Quinn took Jason to Tahoe, the book moved into a supernatural creature story, with demons and demon hunters I wasn t expecting this tirn but did like the way the story went.A fairly quick paced read, my one outstanding question was addressed in almost the last line, but not answered not sure if there is a fol [...]

    11. There s rather a mix of genres, from Vegas noir to romantic paranormal The paranormal elements are a bit cartoonish There s a nice, but really rushed, romance to follow without repetitive sex scenes All in all, a decent afternoon read Ethan Stone is a rather reliable author, so if you re a fan you know what to expect.
